8.13.2002 :::

I attended a farewell party for my graduating class, and while I was not miserable, the event was not wholly enjoyable. I heard repeated promises of classmates to keep in touch with me when they have put forth no effort thus far to maintain contact. I witnessed how disappointingly immature most of my classmates remain. They are determined to exercise their newfound freedom in ways that range from inane to destructive. Their level of banter remains crude and replete with sexual innuendo. Such conditions make me glad to be outside their social structure, but loneliness is a high price to pay for such alienation.
